What’s the point of having a bone scan for breast cancer?

The role of bone scanning for breast cancer is mainly to determine whether the patient has bone metastasis.
Breast cancer is the uncontrolled proliferation of breast epithelial cells, and then malignant transformation, the incidence of which ranks first among female malignant tumors. The diagnosis of breast cancer requires a series of tests, such as tissue biopsy, imaging tests, tumor marker tests and so on.
If the disease develops to middle or late stage, there is a need to do bone scanning. Bone scanning can help doctors look for the existence of bone metastasis lesions, which can help doctors clarify the scope of spread of bone metastasis of breast cancer, and provide a basis for subsequent treatment.
Although CT, MRI and other imaging tests can also determine whether bone metastatic lesions are present, their sensitivity and specificity are not as good as bone scan.
