What to do if you are eight months pregnant and found to have hydronephrosis

When hydronephrosis is detected in pregnant women in the 8th month of pregnancy, generally no special treatment is needed. If fetal hydronephrosis is detected, no special treatment is needed if the amount is small, and those with larger amount need further examination to decide the treatment plan.
1. Hydronephrosis in pregnant women: when hydronephrosis occurs in pregnant women in the 8th month of pregnancy, it usually does not need special treatment. The cause of hydronephrosis in pregnant women may be related to the enlargement of the uterus during pregnancy, which in turn leads to the compression of the ureter, commonly on the right side. Pregnant women are advised to undergo regular checkups during pregnancy and closely monitor their condition. Hydrocele usually recovers about one month after delivery.
2. Fetal hydronephrosis: If the ultrasound examination in the 8th month of pregnancy indicates that the fetus has hydronephrosis, it is necessary to combine the amount of hydronephrosis with the judgment of the condition. If the amount of fluid is not much, it may be absorbed by itself, and regular checkups will be enough.
If the amount of fluid is large, it is usually due to congenital renal anomalies or renal impairment, and if necessary, it needs to be combined with prenatal diagnosis such as umbilical cord blood flow to make a comprehensive judgment. If the test result suggests chromosomal abnormality, then the pregnancy needs to be terminated in time, on the contrary, regular obstetric examination is sufficient.
If hydrocele is found in the eighth month of pregnancy, it is necessary to actively consult the doctor to clarify the cause of the disease and then carry out targeted treatment.
