What should I do if my joints keep hurting after a sprain?

We often encounter some patients who have sprained their joints for a long time, but they still have pain, and some of them have to walk with crutches. Knee and ankle sprains are the most common sports injuries and can cause ligament damage or rupture around the knee and ankle, fracture dislocation, articular cartilage damage, tendon damage or rupture, etc. The treatment of knee and ankle sprains in the acute stage mainly includes: i.e. rest, ice, braking and elevation of the affected limb. If a fracture is ruled out, surgery is required if the knee or ankle joint is significantly unstable and the ligaments around the knee or the ankle ligaments (both the anterior talofibular ligament and the heel-fibular ligament are ruptured) are completely torn. This is especially important for people who love sports.
