Foreign body sensation in the throat when drinking water is a common clinical symptom in otorhinolaryngology, mostly caused by chronic laryngitis, pharyngeal occupying lesions, or laryngopharyngeal reflux. In the case of laryngopharyngeal reflux, the laryngoscope usually shows postcircular mucosal edema and mucosal congestion in the aryepiglottic region, often with self-conscious acid reflux and hiccups in the stomach.

And the typical symptom of esophageal cancer is progressive dysphagia, which starts with difficulty swallowing rice, etc. and progresses further to inability to swallow semi-liquid food such as thin rice, and finally water and saliva, which is much more serious than the feeling of foreign body in the throat. The diagnosis of esophageal cancer requires esophagogram, biopsy and other examinations, and cannot be subjective guesses, and the foreign body feeling in the throat can be done laryngoscopy to rule out other diseases.
