Do you still need to wear a hernia belt after hernia surgery?

It is usually not necessary to wear a hernia belt after hernia surgery. Wearing a hernia belt can prevent the hernia contents from protruding further and provide some relief. Patients with hernias that are inoperable may choose this conservative treatment. However, if the defect is repaired through surgery and the protruding contents are pushed back into the abdominal cavity, wearing a hernia belt is usually not necessary after healing. After hernia surgery, it is recommended to stay in bed for about 3 days, avoid strenuous exercise in the early stage, especially should not lift and carry heavy objects, or coughing, defecation, diet to light, easy to digest. After the operation, the wound recovery should be closely monitored, if there is no abnormality, the stitches should be removed in the hospital 7 to 10 days after the operation.
