In the clinic, we have conducted statistics on the incidence of female anorectal disease in the Nantong area, and found that the incidence of common conditions such as hemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure, constipation, etc. in men and women is basically the same, and a national survey of 18 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions found that the incidence of women is even 13.1% higher than that of men. Why do women suffer more from anorectal disease? This is because: Zhao Aimin, Department of Anorectal Medicine, Nantong City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine
(1) In the course of women’s lives, there are more opportunities for pelvic organs to be compressed and blood flow to be obstructed, which constantly causes congestion and stasis of blood in the pelvic organs and affects blood circulation, and the rectum is compressed, which are all factors that trigger anal disease.
(2) Menstruation and pregnancy can increase the burden on the anus, and some women often have difficulty defecating and prolonged intervals during menstruation or pregnancy, and these factors are also important causes of anal diseases.
(3) In the second trimester of pregnancy, the enlarged fetus presses on the rectum, which not only makes defecation difficult, but also impairs the return of rectal and anal venous blood flow, which not only makes hemorrhoids easy to occur, but also further aggravates the existing hemorrhoids.
(4) The incidence of puerperium is higher. After delivery, the abdominal cavity is empty, the sense of bowel movement becomes dull, plus the abdominal wall is relaxed, the activity is reduced, the symptoms of weakness and difficulty in defecation increase, as a result, strong defecation can damage the anorectum and cause anorectal diseases.
(5) In addition to the above-mentioned expectant women, when women reach menopause, the muscles of the whole body become relaxed and weak, and the tissues related to the function of the anus, such as the sphincter, the anal raphe, and the puborectal muscle, also become weak.
