Many patients and families wonder whether lumpectomy can achieve the degree of thoroughness of classical open surgery. By carefully comparing the positive margin rates in both groups, we found that for early stage patients the positive margin rates were similar for both lumpectomy and open surgery, and both could achieve radical results.
