What does aortic dissection mean?

Aortic coarctation is simply a dissection of the intima and mid-membrane of the aortic vessel. In detail, aortic coarctation means that the blood in the aorta flows from the torn part of the aortic endothelium into the middle membrane of the aorta, which separates the middle membrane from the endothelium and opens up the wall of the aorta along the direction of the aorta’s long axis, resulting in the separation of the true and false chambers. Generally, aortic coarctation is caused by hypertension, atherosclerosis, equine syndrome, congenital cardiovascular disease, and severe trauma. Attacks are characterized by severe chest and back pain, anxiety, and profuse sweating. The diagnosis is usually confirmed by CT, aortography and MRI. Aortic coarctation is an extremely dangerous condition with a high mortality rate, and should be treated promptly with surgery or conservative treatment under the guidance of a physician.
