How Sinus Tracts Heal Themselves

Only superficial or short-lived sinus tracts may heal on their own by tissue filling, where granulation tissue grows organically to fill the sinus tract.
Sinus tracts are caused by infection by pathogens, such as bacteria, that cause necrosis of the skin tissue, creating a one-way channel through which necrotic material, such as liquefied fat and pus, passes to drain out of the body.
Usually only superficial or relatively short time may be cured, through the surrounding tissue to fill inward and granulation tissue growth, mechanization to make the sinus tract fill. However, longer or deeper cases and recurrently infected sinus tracts are difficult to heal on their own.
It is necessary to know the depth and length of the sinus tract through sinus imaging, and to eliminate the infection through antibiotics such as cephalosporin, quinolone and other medicines, and to remove the sinus tract completely through surgery to achieve the purpose of healing. Therefore, patients with sinus tracts must go to the hospital in time and choose the appropriate treatment to remove them through the doctor’s judgment, so as not to affect their daily lives.
