Can grey nails be cured? Here are the answers!

What the common people call gray nails is medically known as onychomycosis. Nail changes often have other problems, besides gray nails there is also nail dystrophy, which can manifest both as a change in color of the toenails, thickening of the nail plate or poor nail growth. To confirm a diagnosis of gray nails, further tests, such as fungal testing, are required. If the diagnosis of gray nail is made, topical and oral medications together are needed to cure it. If the nail plate destruction is less than 1/6, topical medication can cure it; if the nail plate destruction is > 1/6 or the whole nail plate is destroyed, topical medication cannot cure it. The nail is often thickened, the color becomes grayish yellow, there are tofu-like objects under the nail, and there is even nail fungus. In most cases, oral medication is required for the treatment of gray nails, the most commonly used medication is Itraconazole, which is Spironol, and with a portion of topical medication to eradicate gray nails.
