1. Straightening exercises We generally attach importance to the practice of knee flexion, and practice knee flexion every day according to the requirements of the rehabilitation program, but knee straightening exercises are equally important, knowing that a 5-degree difference in the angle of knee flexion is only obvious when squatting to the toilet; while a 5-degree difference in the angle of straightening, others can clearly see that your legs are not in line when walking. Patients are generally required to start knee straightening exercises from the day after surgery (heel pad on the operated side on a pillow, suspended below the knee joint, and a small 1-2kg sandbag can be placed above the knee joint as needed), and can keep practicing straightening for 15-20 minutes every day until six months after surgery. 2. Ice must be applied after each knee flexion exercise. It is best to use ice cubes frozen in the refrigerator, put them in a double plastic pocket and add the right amount of water to make an ice water mixture. It’s good for your knee and it’s good for you. Each ice compress time should not exceed 20 minutes. 3, walking can not replace specialized muscle strength exercises There have been patients who think they can walk, and can walk a lot, they do not pay attention to the special exercises for leg strength. This is quite a misconception, specialized strength exercises are necessary, I often joke with them that you see soccer players running and playing football every day, but they still need specialized lower limb strength exercises as well. Running does not specifically help you grow muscle strength. You still need to practice more straight leg lifts, static squats, and after your surgeon’s permission, go to the gym and use specialized equipment to practice the muscle strength of the front and back thigh muscles.
