When the body temperature reaches 38.5 degrees or more, apply antipyretics. In children with a history of febrile convulsions and epilepsy, antipyretics and sedatives should be given when the temperature is 38 degrees or higher. For antipyretics, acetaminophen (e.g., Tylenol) and ibuprofen (e.g., Merlin) are currently recommended, and alternating use (oral or anal plug) is recommended. Special reminder, for common antipyretics and cold medications, such as aspirin, cold and flu, and quick-acting cold and flu capsules, should not be given to children to avoid inducing gastrointestinal bleeding, leukemia and thrombocytopenia or hematuria.
