Survival of stage 3a esophageal cancer

The 5-year survival rate of patients with stage 3a esophageal cancer is around 15%-20%.
Patients with stage 3a esophageal cancer are usually in the middle or late stage of cancer, indicating that the cancer cells of the patient have infiltrated into the deep muscle layer or connective tissue of the esophageal wall, and may have spread to the surrounding organs or nearby lymph nodes.
If the patient can be treated by surgery, combined with comprehensive treatment such as radiotherapy after surgery, the 5-year survival rate is about 15-20%. If the patient’s cancer cells have spread and cannot be treated by surgery, and can only try to prolong life through radiotherapy and other treatments, the 5-year survival rate will drop significantly.
It is recommended that patients actively cooperate with doctors for treatment and maintain good living and dietary habits to prolong the survival period.
