Precautions after pacemaker implantation

  After pacemaker implantation in life, keep away from electromagnetic interference such as (electrical equipment in poor working condition or not properly grounded; industrial generators, arc or resistance welding machines; . magnets, large heaters and radio broadcast transmitters; medical equipment: including magnetic resonance imaging equipment (MRI), radiation therapy (such as cancer radiation therapy) and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS); metal detectors and security systems used in stores and airports).  In most cases, you just need to stay away from the source of electromagnetic interference or turn it off. At airports, show your Heart Pacemaker ID card to the security staff and you will no longer need to walk through the metal detector. If you feel uncomfortable after being near an EMI source, contact your physician.  Cell phones can interfere with pacemakers. Try to make calls on the opposite side of the pacemaker installation.  What should I be aware of when entering a hospital or clinic?  Before any medical examination or treatment, please inform the medical staff that you have a pulse generator; 2. Do not enter any place with a sign saying “no pacemaker patients”; 3. 4. Do not perform any heat treatment, even if your pacemaker is turned off. It may cause damage to the tissue around the implanted electrodes or permanent damage to the pacemaker.
