Action of Gui Zhi Remove Paeoniae and Add Fructus Schisandrae Ziziphi Tang

Gui Zhi Remove Paeoniae Alba and Add Fructus Schisandrae Ziziphi Tang acts to relieve the muscle (relieving evil Qi from the surface of the skin), expel wind, and warm the channels to restore yang. It is used in treating sun disease (wind-cold evil qi attacking the surface of the body’s muscles, resulting in chills and fever, pain in the head and body, and floating pulse), followed by rapid pulse and fullness in the chest, and slight malignant chills (fear of cold). Gui Zhi Going to Paeoniae and Addition of Fung Zi Tang, from “The Treatise on Typhoid Fever”, is an addition and subtraction variant of Gui Zhi Tang, composed of Gui Zhi, Glycyrrhiza glabra, ginger, jujube, and adenophora, which in the original text mainly treats the symptom of rapid pulse rate, chest fullness, and slight fear of cold after the misuse of downward movement by the exogenous wind-evil. Note that it is contraindicated if there is already a symptom of distension and pain in the chest and abdomen that refuses to be pressed and rubbed, or if there is no external wind-evil but the above symptoms are present, or if there is Yin deficiency and internal heat. When decocting the medicine, decoct the epiphyllum for 10 to 20 minutes before adding other medicines to reduce the toxicity of epiphyllum. Please consult a professional physician or pharmacist for specific medication, do not self-medicate.
