Symptoms of urethral cysts in women

In women with urethral cysts, there are possible symptoms: first, a localized painful swelling sensation at the urethra, mostly seen when the urethral cyst is small in size, and a translucent vesicle can appear on cosmetic examination, usually not accompanied by redness or swelling. Second, abnormal urination can occur, such as straining to urinate, bifurcation of urination or a sense of obstruction at the urethral opening. These symptoms occur when the urethral cyst increases in size and presses on the urethral opening. Third, if the urethral cyst is combined with infection and bleeding, it can appear as hematuria or continuous pain at the urethral orifice, or accompanied by pain during urination. Fourth, after the rupture of the urethral cyst, local pain and bleeding will appear, and the urethral orifice will be seen to be eroded during the examination, or accompanied by skin breakage, bleeding and other symptoms. Fifth, when the urethral cyst completely blocks the urethral orifice, the patient is unable to urinate and has an urgent urge to urinate, but is unable to do so, resulting in urinary retention.
