Lead and cadmium are toxic heavy metals, if people ingest lead and cadmium for a long time and gather in human body, it will affect the function of human hematopoietic, nerve, kidney and other organs. After lead is absorbed into the human body through the respiratory and digestive tracts, the effect on the organism is systemic and multi-systemic. According to the presence or absence of clinical manifestations, childhood lead poisoning is divided into two types: symptomatic lead poisoning and asymptomatic lead poisoning (or subclinical type of lead poisoning). If not eliminated from the body in time, the child’s brain will be damaged for a long time. Parents are suggested to pay attention to the following aspects: 1. Dietary lead detoxification: Through the intake of nutrients and dietary fiber, lead is prevented from being absorbed in the digestive tract, and at the same time, nutrients are supplemented, which is suitable for the use of those whose blood lead level is below 200 micrograms. 2. Keep away from lead pollution: (1) Do not consume too much vermicelli and doughnuts; (2) Do not eat foods with high lead content: Do not give children foods with high lead content, such as muffin eggs, jelly, French fries, popcorn, etc. (3) Disable colorful glazed porcelain to hold acidic food; (4) Don’t have close contact with things containing lead; (5) Don’t eat and drink by the roadside; (6) Stay away from industrial pollution: industrial exhaust, leaded gasoline, automobile exhaust, coal combustion, iron and steel metallurgy, chemical factory emission exhaust, etc. all contain large amounts of lead. (3) Pay attention to hygiene: Infants and children should develop the habit of not sucking fingers, not putting foreign objects into their mouths and washing hands before eating. The paint painted on the surface of children’s toys contains a lot of lead. Lead dust in the environment can also stain hands while children are playing and can easily be ingested. Therefore, let children wash their hands regularly before and after meals. Be sure to wash your hands after reading and writing, especially after using crayons and colored pencils. Cut your child’s nails often, because the nail crevice is a particularly easy place to hide lead dust. Lead poisoning can cause fatigue, insomnia, loss of appetite, stomach pain, joint pain, anemia, etc. As lead poisoning deepens, it can lead to serious diseases such as hypertension, heart failure, reproductive disorders and kidney failure, and in severe cases, it can lead to dementia and even cancer. Pregnant women with lead poisoning may have serious consequences such as miscarriage, stillbirth and infant dysplasia.
