Psoriasis and mental factors

Psychological stressful events can trigger psoriasis and aggravate psoriasis. These psychological stressful events, such as mental tension, emotional depression, bereavement or family discord, unhappy work, and economic difficulties. It was reported that among 1114 psoriasis patients, 40% of them had psoriasis when they were worried, and 37% of them had their psoriasis aggravated when they were worried. Later, it was reported that psoriasis occurred in another group of 5600 psoriasis cases in 30% of patients when they were worried. This is because neurogenic inflammation, which can be caused by either exogenous or endogenous stimuli, causes the release of substance P and other neuropeptides from the sensory nerves of the skin, thus causing a local inflammatory response that triggers the development of psoriasis in people with the genetic quality of psoriasis. In the last decade or so, more scholars have also demonstrated a close relationship and interplay between the nervous system and the immune system.
