Causes of rib deformity

The causes of rib deformity include developmental abnormalities, localized inflammation of the rib cage and rib trauma. 1. Developmental abnormality: during infancy and childhood, unbalanced development of vertebrae, sternum and ribs, malnutrition or rickets sequelae are easy to cause thoracic deformity. 2. Local inflammation of ribs: such as costochondritis, the inflammation will cause local osteophytes which will lead to the protrusion and deformation of ribs, and the patients will also have different degrees of swelling and pain. 3. Rib trauma: after the fracture caused by trauma, there may be deformed healing, resulting in rib protrusion. And the local chest wall is easy to lose support and soften, the softened area will be invaginated when inhaling and relatively protruded when exhaling. If the patient develops uncomfortable symptoms, he/she should seek medical treatment in time to clarify the diagnosis and treat the symptoms.
