What’s wrong with the baby’s dry heaves?

Dry heaving in infants may be caused by environmental factors, or it may be caused by indigestion and improper feeding.
1. Environmental factors: when the infant is in a lower temperature environment, stimulated by cold air, the infant’s digestive system organs spasm, at this time the infant may appear dry heaving. Or infants smell irritating odors, such as paint, gasoline, etc., may also stimulate infants to produce dry heaving.
2. Indigestion: Infants’ digestive system is not yet well developed, and they are prone to indigestion and bloating. When a lot of gas accumulates in the stomach, nausea and dry heaving may occur.
3. Improper feeding: When babies inhale air during feeding due to improper feeding position, or when babies drink milk too fast, it may cause irritation to the stomach, thus triggering dry heaving.
Dry heaving in infants can also be caused by other reasons, such as gastroenteritis and acute laryngitis. If dry heaving occurs more frequently or is accompanied by other uncomfortable symptoms, parents are advised to take their children to the hospital for medical consultation to clarify the cause and handle the situation under the guidance of professional doctors.
