What is uterine prolapse

The diagnosis of uterine prolapse, which we used to refer to collectively as female pelvic floor dysfunction, includes prolapse of the uterus, prolapse of the anterior and posterior vaginal walls, prolapse of the vesicourethra and rectum, and degeneration of the pelvic floor function leading to the appearance of clinical symptoms. The main manifestation is prolapse of the cervix from the vaginal opening, causing discomfort in walking and affecting the quality of life. The main causes of uterine prolapse are the injury of childbirth, lack of timely rehabilitation exercises after delivery, and bad habits such as constipation and chronic cough, which cause relaxation of the pelvic floor muscles and ligaments. For patients with mild cases, you can insist on doing anal contraction exercise every day with certain therapeutic effect; you can also use pelvic floor function therapy instrument to stimulate muscle contraction to strengthen the function of pelvic floor muscles. For severe cases, those with significant lower abdominal swelling and cervical prolapse need surgery. Young patients are often accompanied by lengthening of the cervix. Depending on the degree of prolapse, the following surgical options are available: cervical amputation + uterine suspension (including uterosacral ligament shortening and circular ligament shortening), uterosacral fixation, sacrospinous ligament fixation, etc.
