Acute myocardial infarction is caused by sudden blockage of coronary arteries. If the blood vessels are not opened in time, many cardiomyocytes will be necrotic, and because cardiomyocytes do not regenerate, and because cardiomyocyte necrosis can lead to instability of the electrical activity of the heart, it is easy to cause sudden death. Coronary artery opening can save the dying cardiomyocytes, but has no effect on the dead cardiomyocytes. The earlier the coronary artery is opened, the more myocardium survives and the greater the benefit to the patient. Therefore, “time is myocardium, time is life”.
