The normal upper limit of triglyceride is 1.7mmol/L, greater than 1.7mmol/L means elevated triglyceride, 4.14mmol/L is significantly higher than the normal value, which is abnormal.
The main reasons for elevated triglycerides include improper diet, such as excessive intake of high-fat foods, fried foods, etc.; poor lifestyle habits, such as lack of exercise, sedentary, long-term smoking and drinking. Elevated triglycerides may also be caused by certain pathological reasons, such as suffering from diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease and so on.
Patients should pay attention to a light diet, eat less high-fat and high-calorie food, and consume more fresh vegetables and fruits; they should do proper physical exercise, avoid sitting for a long time, and try to change the bad habits such as smoking and drinking.
If triglycerides cannot be normalized by improving lifestyle, lipid-lowering drug therapy, such as simvastatin, atorvastatin, fenofibrate, etc., is needed under the guidance of a doctor.
When high triglycerides are found, it is recommended that the patient should consult a doctor for examination in time to clarify the cause of the disease so as to take the correct treatment measures.
