Introduction to minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery

Minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery was first applied to the knee joint, and then to the hip joint, shoulder joint, ankle joint, elbow joint, fingers and other small joints. Minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery is a special feature of Huainan Eastern Hospital Group General Hospital. Arthroscopy is a rod-shaped optical instrument with a diameter of 5 mm left calendar that looks inside the joint. This high-tech instrument has been used since 1970. Gastroscope, which is familiar to everyone, is an endoscope used to observe the condition of the stomach and intestines, while arthroscope is an endoscope used to diagnose and treat joint disorders. It works on a similar principle, with a lens at the bottom of a thin tube, which is then inserted inside the joint so that the inside of the joint is displayed on a monitor. Thus, the cartilage of the joint can be directly observed. At present, arthroscopy is not only used for the diagnosis of diseases, but also more widely for the treatment of joint diseases. The Department of Orthopedics of Huainan Eastern Hospital Group General Hospital performs more than 200 surgeries with arthroscopic technology every year, relieving the pain of many patients. The most clinically used minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery is knee arthroscopy, which has a wide range of indications, mainly for knee osteoarthritis, knee deformational knee arthropathy, septic knee arthritis, knee tuberculosis, knee meniscal injury, knee ACL injury and posterior cruciate ligament injury, knee joint free body, knee rheumatoid synovitis, rheumatoid arthritis, pigmented choriocapillaris-like synovitis and unexplained knee osteoarthritis, etc. The surgical method of minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. During the procedure, anesthesia is administered and two small holes are made in the knee. Then, an arthroscope is inserted through one of the holes to view the inside of the joint. An endoscope is then inserted through the other hole and surgical instruments are used to perform the internal surgery. Currently, this procedure is very popular. Minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery has many features, such as no need to make a large incision on the affected area as in normal surgery; the insertion port of the arthroscope and the insertion port of the surgical instruments are only 5 mm, so the burden of surgery is small. Therefore, patients who are hospitalized for surgery can usually be discharged in about a week.
