Prognosis of schizophrenia

  Factors that contribute to a good prognosis for schizophrenia: 1. Rapid onset.  2.Short duration of illness.  3. No previous history of psychosis.  4. Having active affective symptoms.  5. Older age of onset.  6. Good pre-morbid personality.  7.Good social adjustment.  8.Good social interaction.  9.Excellent work performance.  Four kinds of prognostic outcomes of schizophrenia: 1.About 25% of patients are cured and have good recovery of social function.  2.About 25% of the patients have a few residual symptoms and good recovery of social function.  3.About 25% of patients have most of the residual symptoms and social function is impaired.  4.About 25% of the patients had deterioration and mental decline.
