High adrenal stimulating hormone (ACTH) in women has different clinical manifestations depending on the etiology. If the pituitary gland is lesioned, women may show symptoms such as centripetal obesity, amenorrhea, hypertension, etc. If the primary adrenal gland is lesioned, it may show debilitating weakness, hyperpigmentation, drop in blood pressure, etc. 1. Increased secretion of ACTH by pituitary gland: it can lead to increased adrenocorticotropic hormone, and women may show symptoms such as full moon face, centripetal obesity, purpura and petechiae, hair growth, acne, amenorrhea, hypertension, and glucose tolerance abnormality. 2. Primary adrenal lesions: Decreased secretion of adrenocorticotropic hormone leads to increased ACTH responsiveness, which may be manifested as debilitating weakness, weight loss, hyperpigmentation, and decreased blood pressure. In the case of congenital adrenocortical hyperplasia, symptoms such as female pseudohermaphroditism may be manifested. If the adrenocorticotropic hormone is high, you should seek medical advice from your doctor for a comprehensive evaluation to determine the cause of the disease.
