Can a deviated septum be treated with medication?

Nasal septum deviation, generally can not be achieved by taking medication to achieve the purpose of fundamental treatment. For those who have a large degree of deviation, causing obvious clinical symptoms, such as obvious nasal congestion, runny nose, headache, open-mouth breathing, or even respiratory sleep apnea syndrome, they need to go to the hospital in time, and under the guidance of the doctor to actively treat.
Nasal septum is a bony structure, and deviated septum is an abnormality of the bony structure of the nasal septum, so it can only be corrected through surgery. Whether or not a deviated septum requires treatment depends on the size of the deviation and the severity of the clinical symptoms. For those who have a small degree of deviation and no clinical symptoms, no special treatment is needed.
Patients with large degree of septal deviation may have typical symptoms such as headache and nasal congestion. There is no effective oral medication to relieve the symptoms, but local topical glucocorticosteroid sprays, such as mometasone furoate, can be used to improve the congestion and edema of the nasal mucosa in order to relieve the symptoms, but it cannot really solve the problem of deviation.
