Effective communication, effective communication “like walking on thin ice, like facing the abyss” is our vivid expression of the current medical environment. With the progress of society, the development of market economy, the improvement of people’s cultural quality, the enhancement of self-protection awareness, people’s demand for medical effect is increasing, in the medical process, the risk of the surgeon is increasing; in order to reduce the occurrence of medical disputes, promote the improvement of doctor-patient relationship, better patient treatment, perfect preoperative conversation is an effective means. Effective communication makes the patient healthy while making the doctor understand and respect. Gastrointestinal surgery preoperative talk, probably through three processes: the first process, the surgeon’s mouth “dry talk”, the patient and family “just listen”, the interlocutor think talk is very thorough, the patient’s family but do not know what. In the second process, the surgeon draws some schematic diagrams with body language such as hand gestures, and the patient’s family has a preliminary understanding of the surgery, but they often do not understand it correctly. In the 3rd process, a large number of surgical diagrams are applied with physical demonstrations and interactive communication with patients at the same time. Patients and their families can easily understand how the surgery is performed, what may happen and what they need to pay attention to. For the production of pre-operative atlas we have also gone through a journey of exploration: initially, we put the surgical atlas in front of the patient’s family and pointed it out to them, but it was too professional and difficult for them to understand. We are using a combination of cartoon drawings and real-life photos to color atlases, together with the physical display of common surgical materials (anastomosis, closures, hernia repair materials) in our department. This kind of diagram is different from our professional diagrams, which can be understood by people without medical knowledge. It is easy to understand, easy to understand, and very visual to explain the preoperative preparation, the general procedure of surgery, the possible situation during and after surgery and the prognosis, which has received very satisfactory results. At present, our department has formed a set of relatively perfect preoperative talk system, forming a trinity of talk mode, firstly, the doctor in charge talks to the patient about the operation and perioperative preparation, then the first assistant doctor talks deeply about the operation, and finally the main surgeon talks about the risks and complications of the operation. Through the preoperative talk, the patients and their families can feel the collective team spirit and role of surgical treatment in our department, win the trust of patients and their families in our medical service and medical level, make the patients feel that they have enjoyed the most scientific and reasonable diagnosis and treatment of the disease, correctly understand the necessity and risk of surgical treatment, the late performance and unpredictability of surgical treatment effect and the possibility of comprehensive and continuous treatment. They also understand the measures and abilities of doctors to defend against risks and the limited ability to resist risks. With the implementation of the Tort Liability Law, preoperative communication has become particularly important. Effective implementation of preoperative communication plays a very important role in promoting doctor-patient communication, improving doctor-patient relationship, and reducing medical disputes. Thoughtful preparation allows us to target and send and receive freely, not only to let patients know that we are so well prepared, but also so concerned about them, and avoid unnecessary risks.
