Optimal treatment of hoarseness

Etiology of hoarseness Hoarseness is a common condition in daily life. It occurs in all kinds of people, especially those who use their voices professionally, such as teachers, conductors, speakers, singers and so on. It is caused by various reasons, such as acute and chronic laryngeal inflammation, laryngeal perichondritis, cricoarytenoid arthritis, vocal fold polyps, vocal fold nodules, vocal fold paralysis and benign and malignant tumors of the larynx. People often do not pay enough attention to early hoarseness, thinking that it will soon get better, but it is often not what they want. For example, after acute laryngitis, due to work and life, it is impossible to systematically treat and rest the voice, which eventually leads to the inflammation becoming chronic, or the appearance of vocal fold polyps and vocal fold nodules. Some people who use their voices professionally, use their voices improperly or use their voices repeatedly with fatigue or disease, and are also prone to hoarseness. Some middle-aged and elderly smokers have dry throat, hoarseness, and cough for a long time, but they think it is a minor disease and buy some medicine to serve themselves, but they do not know that there is a tumor on their vocal cords. What should I do if I have hoarseness? If you suddenly have sore throat, hoarseness, cough or even breath-holding, you should go to the hospital immediately. After examination by the doctor, if the vocal cords are red and swollen, a combination of antibiotics, nebulized inhalation, Chinese herbal medicine and vocal rest can be given, and the right amount of hormone needs to be given. Vocal rest is very important and is the basis for healing. In case of recurrent hoarseness, easy fatigue with voice or persistent hoarseness, you should also consult a doctor to check the condition of vocal folds. If it is only vocal fold hypertrophy, you need to protect your voice and avoid excessive use of voice. If there are small nodes, polyps or papillomas on the vocal folds, they should be removed by surgery in time. Our department has advanced surgical microscope and support laryngoscope, with the aid of which we can clearly expose the laryngeal cavity and vocal folds, remove the lesions in the vocal folds and larynx, and give you a clear and strong voice. For those who are over 40 years old, have a history of smoking for many years, and have hoarseness and dry cough for more than 2 weeks, a fiberoptic laryngoscopy should be performed promptly to rule out the possibility of malignant tumors. Voice microsurgery – the best treatment for hoarseness Since the 1960s, laryngeal microsurgery and laryngeal surgery have been gradually carried out and surgeons have accepted the vocal-centered surgical model. With the advancement of various surgical microscopes, laryngoscopes and voice microsurgery instruments, a solid foundation was laid for the birth and development of voice microsurgery, and the concept of voice microsurgery was introduced in the 1990s. As ear, nose and throat surgeons became more aware of hoarseness, voice microsurgery was born and developed with the power of high technology to improve people’s voice characteristics. Voice microsurgery is a surgical procedure based on the application of a high-resolution microscope and microscopic instruments or laser technology under the guidance of a supported laryngoscope to preserve the basic tissue structure of the vocal folds to the maximum extent possible. The advantages of voice microsurgery compared with traditional surgery are: 1) full exposure of the lesion area, 2) microscopic operation to fully remove the lesion for minimally invasive purposes, and 3) strict protection of normal tissue structure, which can restore and preserve the function of the vocal folds to the maximum extent. Scope of surgery Surgical removal of bilateral vocal fold nodules, vocal fold polyps, Renk’s edema, papilloma, vocal fold cysts, precancerous lesions, etc.?
