Sail placenta starts to be dangerous at several weeks

Sail placenta is dangerous throughout pregnancy and should be tested promptly and regularly once it is detected, and immediate medical attention should be sought in case of emergency. This type of placenta is most prone to umbilical cord compression and reduced blood flow, which can lead to intrauterine ischemia, growth restriction and even intrauterine distress. In addition, if combined with anterior vessels, the vessels will rupture with the rupture of the membranes or the compression of labor during delivery. Once the vessels rupture, the fetus can die within minutes and the mother will be at risk of hemorrhage. Therefore, it is important to diagnose sail placenta as early as possible and deliver the baby quickly by cesarean section if necessary. Pregnant women with sail placenta should pay attention to regular checkups, check fetal heartbeat in late pregnancy, and take timely measures in case of intrauterine growth restriction or intrauterine distress.
