Dark face may be a physiological phenomenon, or it may be a pathological phenomenon of sallow face. According to the patient’s symptoms, we should use medication, such as the Chinese medicine Jin Gui Kidney Qi Pill, Liu Wei Di Huang Pill and so on to regulate.
1. Physiological phenomenon: dark face may be caused by sun tanning or lack of facial cleansing, etc. Attention to sun protection and facial cleansing can be done without special treatment.
2. Sallow face: from the perspective of Chinese medicine, it can be identified as insufficient kidney yang, depletion of kidney essence and internal obstruction of blood stasis.
(1) Kidney yang deficiency: Clinical signs include sallow and dark complexion, aching and weakness of the waist and knees, tinnitus and deafness, coldness of the body (cold body), cold limbs, and loose urine and stools, etc. The tongue is pale, fat and tender, the moss is white, and the pulse is thin and feeble, especially in the two feet. Jin Gui Kidney Qi Pill can be used to regulate the condition.
(2) Kidney essence depletion: clinically, sallow color, dry and burnt ears, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, dizziness and tinnitus, spermatorrhea and premature ejaculation, hair loss and tooth shaking, red tongue, thin and weak pulse. It can be regulated by the Six-flavored Di Huang Pill.
(3) Internal obstruction of Blood stasis: sallow complexion, rough and dry skin (like the interlocking scaly nails of a dried fish), dry mouth but wanting to gargle but not swallowing, hairlessness, irregular menstruation, tingling in the abdomen or lumps refusing to be pressed, bruised lips and tongue with purple color or petechiae, and a fine and astringent pulse or stringy pulse. Taohong Siwu Tang may be chosen to regulate the condition.
The adverse effects of the above formula are not clear. When patients find themselves with dark face, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to clarify the cause of the disease and carry out standardized treatment.
