Glycated Protein Levels Define Diabetes

Glycated protein here is thought to refer to possibly glycosylated hemoglobin. In general, a glycosylated hemoglobin ≥ 6.5% combined with typical symptoms of diabetes is considered diabetes. Glycated hemoglobin is the product of combining hemoglobin in red blood cells with glucose in the serum. Glycated hemoglobin reflects the average level of blood glucose of the tester over the past 2 to 3 months. In general, a glycosylated hemoglobin of ≥6.5% combined with the typical symptoms of diabetes (i.e., excessive eating, drinking, and urination with weight loss) can be considered diabetes mellitus. It should be noted that the current diagnosis of diabetes mellitus is mainly based on blood glucose monitoring values. The diagnostic criteria for diabetes mellitus are: fasting blood glucose ≥7.0 mmol/L, or 2-hour post-glycemic load blood glucose ≥11.1 mmol/L, or random blood glucose ≥11.1 mmol/L, accompanied by the symptoms of three polydipsia and one hypoglycemia (polyphagia, polyphagia, polyuria, and weight loss), and diabetes mellitus can be diagnosed.
