What does a high hcg mean?

A high HCG means pregnancy. HCG values definitely rise after pregnancy. elevated HCG values can be seen in three types of pregnancies: ectopic, intrauterine, and biochemical pregnancy. For determining which type of pregnancy is present, a combination of gynecologic ultrasound is needed. If the gynecologic ultrasound indicates an early intrauterine pregnancy, it suggests an elevated HCG due to an intrauterine pregnancy. If the gynecologic ultrasound indicates an ectopic pregnancy mass, it suggests an elevated HCG due to ectopic pregnancy. If no suspicious pregnancy mass is seen on gynecologic ultrasound, both intrauterine and ectopic, an increased HCG value due to biochemical pregnancy can be considered in this case. It can also be seen in cases of staphyloma and gestational trophoblastic disease, where the HCG value is also increased. In addition, tumors such as choriocarcinoma of the hypothalamus or pineal gland, hepatoblastoma, and immature teratoma of the ovary may cause an increase in HCG.
