What are the characteristics of ablation therapy?

In English, the word “ablation” is also translated as “excision”. In the medical field, we often see the term “ablation” in the context of radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, cryoablation and chemical ablation. In fact, ablation is a treatment modality that directly causes coagulative necrosis of the treated tissues through high temperature, freezing and chemical drugs to achieve the effect of surgical resection. Ablation therapy is a method of achieving ablative treatment by means of focused ultrasound. The main advantages include: no incision, no bleeding, and no limitation of tumor size and shape. Generally, one-time treatment is taken, with fast postoperative recovery and low overall treatment cost, which can activate the immune system; no radiation and chemical damage, no tumor insensitivity problem encountered by radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which can be repeated and planned segmental treatment can also be implemented; radical treatment can be given for early lesions and palliative treatment for advanced lesions to effectively reduce the tumor load. At the same time, it can be combined with other treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and will not conflict with other treatment methods. In addition, ablation treatment for breast tumor, bone tumor and uterine fibroid has the advantages of preserving the original form of breast, limb and uterus.
