Can an enlarged prostate become cancerous?

Enlarged prostate usually does not become cancerous, but there is a risk of cancer.
Enlarged prostate, generally a common disease in middle-aged and elderly men, is characterized by frequent urination, urinary urgency, painful urination, thinning of the urine stream, and in severe cases, urinary retention. Most patients do not need medication, or the symptoms can be relieved after taking oral medication (finasteride, tamsulosin).
Prostate enlargement, for the most part, is a benign condition and is not cancerous. However, if there is repeated urinary retention, irritation of the urethra, which can lead to mucosal damage, or elevated androgen levels, there is a possibility of progression to malignant tumors of the prostate.
Enlarged prostate, generally do not need to be particularly worried about, have discomfort timely to the hospital, do not self-medication.
