Bowel polyps usually do not have hard lumps in the bowel, bowel polyps are a softer type of space-occupying lesion in the bowel. Only if this type of bowel polyp becomes cancerous and turns into bowel cancer will it have a larger hard lump in the bowel.
Bowel polyps are generally divided into inflammatory polyps and adenomatous polyps. Inflammatory polyps are less likely to become malignant, while adenomatous polyps are more likely to become cancerous. In the polyp stage these swellings in the intestines are relatively soft. They are soft lumps, although they may grow larger.
If a bowel polyp is not detected in time and becomes cancerous, the cancerous tissue will turn into a harder lump over time, which is often referred to as bowel cancer. In the early stages of bowel cancer, the prognosis is good if it is detected in time and treated by surgery. If bowel cancer is detected late and metastasis occurs, the prognosis is worse.
It is recommended that once you have blood in stool or change in bowel habit, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible to avoid delaying your condition.
