Can arteriovenous fistulas be cured?

Most arteriovenous fistulas can be cured, but different analyses are needed for each case. Most patients with traumatic arteriovenous fistulas can achieve complete healing with intervention or in a very small number of patients with surgical treatment. The vast majority of non-traumatic dural arteriovenous fistulas require surgical intervention, and only a minority of patients can be cured spontaneously by compression of the neck and slowing of the blood flow. Arteriovenous fistulas are treatable conditions with a good prognosis. Most patients with arteriovenous fistulas are currently thought to have a relationship with infection and trauma, and their development may be related to all of these factors. The goal of treatment is to treat the venous end of the arteriovenous fistula, because there may be multiple arteriovenous fistulas, but no matter how many fistulas there are, they will eventually merge into the venous end, and treatment of the venous end will achieve the required cure for the disease.
