Mothballs are divided into natural mothballs and synthetic mothballs, natural mothballs are basically harmless to the human body; while chemical mothballs are more harmful to the human body, but as long as they are used correctly, the harm of mothballs to the human body can be minimized.
Natural mothballs mainly contain chemical camphor, which is a ketone substance, chemical formula for C₁₀H₁₆O, which is a non-toxic substance, natural camphor is not harmful to the human body. The main components of synthetic mothballs are naphthol, p-dichlorobenzene and chemical camphor, naphthol and p-dichlorobenzene are harmful to human body.
Naphthol is volatile, absorbed by the body can be combined with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase in red blood cells in the body, which leads to the destruction of red blood cells, hemolysis; and p-dichlorobenzene has toxicity, which can cause the human body to appear tired, dizziness, headache, diarrhea and other symptoms of poisoning.
If mothballs are used, the room should be adequately ventilated to reduce the concentration of the above substances in the air.
