How long does it take for esophagitis to progress to cancer?

The development of esophagitis into esophageal cancer is a long process and should be analyzed on a case-by-case basis. The type of esophagitis and its living habits vary, so does the specific time of its development. If it is common esophagitis, it can generally be cured through anti-inflammatory treatment and will not develop into cancer. However, for special types of esophagitis, such as gastrointestinal reflux esophagitis, this kind of esophageal inflammation is precancerous and will develop malignantly, and will gradually develop into esophageal cancer in about 5-10 years if not taken care of. In addition, the development speed of esophagitis to esophageal cancer is also related to dietary habits, such as overeating and eating foods with too high temperature, such as hot pot and barbecue, etc., which will significantly increase the development speed of the disease. For patients suffering from esophagitis, they need to go to the gastroenterology department of the hospital as soon as possible for timely treatment to prevent its cancerous development. It is also vital to prevent cancer by not eating foods that are too hot.
