Hemorrhoids are usually no longer painful when you have a bowel movement about 10 days after surgery. Hemorrhoid surgery pain is mostly related to the type of surgery and the severity of the hemorrhoid, for example, if you have a simple bleeding internal hemorrhoid or a prolapsed internal hemorrhoid, if you use a minimally invasive surgical procedure such as ligation or injection therapy, you will generally start to have a bowel movement 3 days after surgery and you will basically have no pain. If the hemorrhoid is mainly external, it needs to be surgically removed, so there will be an open wound, and it will be painful when defecating, but usually the wound basically heals in about 7-10 days, and there will be no more pain when defecating.
