Don’t rush to reduce your child’s fever

Do you know the old Red Army? During the 25,000-mile Long March, they suffered a lot of hardships, no food, no clothes, freezing and starving, sometimes gnawing on tree bark and eating grass roots, but their bodies were very strong and they lived a long life, some of them lived to 80 or 90 years old or even more than 100 years old. When they were sick during the war years, they rarely sought medical attention, but what was the reason for their longevity? There was not enough to eat, let alone the supply of medicine. However, it was the lack of food, clothing and medicine that made their immune system mobilize to an extreme, and this mobilization to the extreme also made them use for the rest of their lives. (Isn’t this what our children lack now?) In fact, the same is true for fever. Like the immune system of a pediatrician, the immune system of a newborn child is not mobilized like a troop that has not been through a war. Human lymphocytes have a stronger metabolic capacity at 39 degrees than at 37 degrees, and the maximum phagocytic activity of leukocytes is strongest at 38-40 degrees, so sometimes it is necessary to let the child have a fever. A fever can also prompt leukocytes to travel and wrap around the infected area. Once a fever starts, this is when our phagocytes start to engulf the infected area, let’s say there’s a problem on the lungs, and the phagocytes will go to this area to focus and kill the enemy. Then, fever increases the ability to fight infection, which is the greatest mobilization of immune cell function. When a person has a fever, bacteria and viruses are less able to attack at higher temperatures. That’s why we say that every time the body has a fever, it gives the immune system a chance to exercise. Just like troops who don’t fight for a long time have to do exercises frequently, if they don’t, they won’t be able to handle the external enemy when it really comes, and the same is true for immune cells. So some people talk about burning once smart once, this is not necessarily true, but burning once the immune system gradually better, this is certain, so parents must treat children’s fever must be calm, give the child a correct treatment, so that it is more appropriate. In addition, another great benefit is that when you have a fever, the body will produce many cytokines, like tumor necrosis factor, which is able to kill tumor cells. What is a tumor cell? To be frank, it is a cell that grows excessively in the body, and the body’s removal mechanism can’t remove it anymore, so it will grow excessively and develop into a tumor. If you let your child burn, his chances of developing tumors in the future will be much lower. This is the reason why the old red army mentioned above can live long and not get some terminal diseases.
