HCG and progesterone values in ectopic pregnancy are usually lower than the range of normal pregnancy values in the same gestational week, but the exact amount varies from person to person and is mainly judged with the aid of individual fluctuating levels. In addition to HCG and progesterone, the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy needs to be combined with gynecological ultrasonography and other comprehensive analysis.1. HCG: In ectopic pregnancy, the HCG level is lower than the level of intrauterine pregnancy and can range from several hundred to several tens of thousands. If the HCG is measured continuously and the doubling time is more than 7 days, ectopic pregnancy is more likely; 2. Progesterone: In tubal pregnancy, the serum progesterone level is low, mostly in the range of 10-25 μg/ml. If the serum progesterone value is less than 5 μg/ml, ectopic pregnancy and abortion can be considered; 3. Ectopic pregnancy is highly suspected. The combination of blood HCG and progesterone measurement with ultrasonography can be very helpful in the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy. The diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy is basically established when the blood HCG is >2000 IU/L and no intrauterine gestational sac is seen on vaginal ultrasound.
