What are the ways to get rid of knee effusion due to gout?

Gout causing knee effusion may be related to gout attack, a small amount of knee effusion can be eliminated by taking drugs with anti-inflammatory effect, if the amount of effusion is large, surgery is needed.
1. Drug treatment: under the stimulation of urate deposition, gout patients’ knees, ankles, elbows and other joints will have joint inflammation which will cause joint effusion, anti-inflammatory drugs can be taken for treatment, such as colchicine and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like etoricoxib and ibuprofen etc., and the knee effusion can be gradually absorbed after inflammation is under control.
2. Surgery: If the amount of fluid in the knee joint is large and the tension is high, the fluid can be extracted from the joint by puncture therapy operated by a physician under the premise of confirming that there is no infection in the joint cavity, and glucocorticosteroids (e.g., betamethasone) can be injected into the joint cavity for treatment if necessary.
Drugs should be used under the guidance of a physician, and patients with gout-induced knee effusion are advised to go to the rheumatology and orthopedics departments of regular hospitals and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
