Facial numbness may be caused by long-term facial cold, facial allergy, facial nerve paralysis, head tumor, etc. The causes are different and the treatment methods are different.
1. Prolonged facial cold: If you are in a cold environment for a long time without paying attention to facial warmth, your face will be stimulated by cold, leading to excessive constriction of facial blood vessels and resulting in facial numbness. Symptoms can be eliminated by staying out of the cold and keeping the face warm.
2. Facial allergy: allergy can cause local angioneurotic edema, affecting facial nerve function, and accompanied by itching, redness and other manifestations. Anti-allergy treatment should be carried out in time. Take Benadryl and Loratadine to relieve the symptoms.
3. Facial nerve palsy: including peripheral facial nerve palsy and central facial nerve palsy. In addition to facial numbness, there may be disappearance of forehead lines, drooping of the corners of the mouth, shallow nasolabial folds and other manifestations. Prompt treatment with antiviral, nutritive nerve and infrared light is needed. Generally, the symptoms can gradually improve after about 2 weeks.
4. Head tumor: When intracranial tumor compresses facial nerve or trigeminal nerve, it may lead to corresponding nerve dysfunction and symptoms of facial numbness, which can be treated by surgery.
5. Acute cerebrovascular disease: If thalamic infarction or hemorrhage occurs, facial numbness may occur. At this time, thrombolysis, hemostasis and other treatments are needed.
There are many causes of facial numbness, and it is recommended that patients seek medical treatment in time to clarify the causes and then treat the symptoms.
