With the modern concept of healthy living, fitness has come to our lives from Western movies and TV, and is a sport that is adapted to both adult men and women, except for children and teenagers who are not suitable. Some say that in the United States there are as many gyms as there are laundromats, and some experts see the number of gyms as an indicator of a city’s modernization. However, fitness exercise is never as simple as taking for granted the force of training, improper training can cause many injuries, such as muscle tendon rupture, joint dislocation, etc. Today, we show you a typical case of elbow joint injury caused by improper biceps training. The patient is an old gentleman in his 70s, with a hard body and cheerful personality, a typical sunny old man. Some time ago, he got hooked on fitness and did a lot of biceps training. As a result, half a year later, his elbow joint slowly failed to straighten and bend, and he had obvious pain. A film was taken and there were bone spurs in the front and back of the elbow joint. This is typical of traumatic arthritis. Why did this happen? The reason is that he did not have a good grasp of the essentials of training. One of the requirements of biceps training is that the elbow joint should not be completely straight when relaxed, but should maintain a flexion of about 5° with muscle strength. The weight of the dumbbell is borne by the muscles that provide power when the joint is flexed, and the weight is borne by the bones of the joint, such as the joint capsule, when it is fully extended. The bones of the joint are static structures, and strain and stress can damage them, such as cartilage wear and tear and bone spur formation from osteophytes. To restore the range of motion of the elbow joint, arthroscopic surgery is required to remove the bone spurs.
