Is pulmonary fibrosis cancer?

Pulmonary fibrosis is not cancer. Pulmonary fibrosis refers to the abnormal repair of normal alveolar tissue after it has been damaged, resulting in structural abnormalities, and is mostly seen in long-term smokers or patients with chronic bronchitis.
Clinical manifestations of pulmonary fibrosis are mainly characterized by progressive dry cough, wet rales in the lungs or progressive dyspnea, and diffuse reticular or nodular shadows in the middle and lower lobes of both lungs can be seen on X-ray. Cancer refers to malignant tumors originating from epithelial tissues, and X-ray examination can show specific shadows on plain films.
Patients with pulmonary fibrosis should quit smoking and avoid spicy and irritating foods. If there is any discomfort, they should consult a doctor and undergo targeted treatment in a timely manner.
