Does bronchiectasis heal itself?

Bronchial dilatation cannot be cured by itself.
Bronchiectasis is mostly secondary to acute or chronic respiratory infections and bronchial obstruction, recurrent bronchial inflammation, causing abnormal and long-lasting dilatation of the bronchial tubes, which ultimately leads to the destruction of the bronchial wall structure, and the patient’s clinical manifestations such as chronic cough, coughing up of purulent sputum, and recurrent hemoptysis.
Once bronchiectasis occurs, it cannot be cured by itself, and should be actively standardized treatment to control the symptoms and avoid its further progress. For bronchiectasis, the treatment is mainly to control the primary disease, give anti-infection, sputum, improve airway ventilation and other symptomatic treatment, serious patients can consider surgery to remove the lesion.
The severity of bronchiectasis is related to the extent of airway dilatation. Timely treatment can slow down the progression of the disease, improve the quality of life and prolong life.
