Morning erection and men’s health

Medically, a morning erection is a natural erection of the penis in the early morning when men are unconscious, and is generally not controlled by the situation, movement, or thinking. The main reasons for the appearance of morning erection are: First, it is related to the male androgen level. After a night of sleep and rest, a man’s androgen levels peak in the morning, triggering a morning erection. Secondly, in the early morning, the bladder is filled with urine and the pressure increases, which stimulates the internal organs and causes a reflex erection of the penis. Jiang Lijun, Department of Male Medicine, Affiliated Hospital of Hebei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Morning erections mostly start from adolescence and are most frequent at the age of 20 to 30, and gradually decrease after middle age as age increases and the body ages. It is worth noting that because men’s bodies are in different states every day, morning erections are not always the same, and the presence or absence of morning erections alone cannot determine the good or bad sexual function of men. But the morning erection is still important for men as one of the reference standards of health. The common factors that affect morning erections are: Age: Normally age is a determining factor for morning erections. After sexual maturity, the number of morning erections gradually increases with age, and the duration also gradually increases. after 30 years old, as age increases, the morning erection will gradually weaken or decline. However, some older people do not have morning erections but can still have a satisfactory sex life. Sleep: Adequate sleep time and quality of sleep can affect androgen secretion to varying degrees, thus affecting morning erections. Emotion: Excessive grief and depression can significantly reduce morning erections. Fatigue: Excessive fatigue and mental exhaustion can also affect morning erections. Diseases: Many diseases can affect sexual function and morning erection. Such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, lumbar disc protrusion, etc. Drugs: Anti-tumor drugs, anti-hypertensive drugs, hypoglycemic drugs, antacid drugs, sedative drugs and Chinese herbal medicines such as Zhi Mu and Huang Bai can reduce morning erection; while drugs such as ginseng, Astragalus and deer antler can increase morning erection. Bad habits: excessive smoking, alcohol consumption, irregular work and rest time, etc. can also affect morning erection. If the morning erection decreases, it may be a sign of aging, or it may be a sign of recent poor rest, or a sign of some disease before it comes. If you find that your morning erection is not obvious, you should go to the hospital in time. In addition, men can also have an erection during sleep, usually during the dreaming stage. Generally speaking, young and middle-aged men will have 3 to 5 repeated erections every night for an average of 15 minutes each time. Repeated erections at night can put more oxygen-rich blood into the penis and help it regain energy.
