The causes of vulvar itching with greater odor are: i. Trichomonas vaginalis, because trichomonas anaerobically enzymes carbohydrates to produce foul gas, frothy, thin, purulent stimulation of the mucosal tissues around the vagina appears itching. Bacterial vaginitis, the onset of which is caused by the reduction of hydrogen peroxide-producing lactic acid bacteria in the vagina leading to the proliferation of bacteria, excessive reproduction of anaerobic bacteria producing ammonia-like tissues, a fishy odor, and more purulent secretions stimulating mild itching. Third, itching and odor can also occur in senile vaginitis and infantile vulvovaginitis. Fourth, some vulvar eczema, perineal abscess, cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease lead to increased secretions with slight itching and odor. Most of these can be gradually relieved by timely examination at the hospital, daily warm water washing of the vulva and perianal area, and frequent change of underwear.
