Early symptoms of lung cancer are not obvious and hard to be detected, it may be mistaken for “lung nodules”. In the past, many celebrities were too busy with their careers to realize that lung cancer had crept up on them, and some were fortunate enough to be treated early, while others were not so lucky, resulting in irreversible regrets. However, because the early symptoms of lung cancer are not obvious, it is very difficult to prevent it, and there are still too many cases in the clinic. There was a case in our hospital where an engineer in his 40s, who normally did not have any bad habits such as smoking, was found to have a small nodule of about 2 centimeters in his lung during an annual health checkup at his company, which was confirmed to be early stage lung cancer by the hospital through thoracoscopy. The patient said that he was very lucky that he did not find any abnormalities at work, but the company arranged a health checkup to detect the cancer early, and timely treatment to avoid an unfortunate event. Early symptoms of lung cancer are not specific, or only a slight cough, so it is not easy to distinguish it from other lung diseases, and is often neglected. This means that 85% of patients are not detected at an early stage because they do not have regular health checkups or because they do not undergo more sophisticated examinations. Usually, the average survival rate of stage IV lung cancer is only one year. Therefore, medical professionals suggest that in order to achieve good lung cancer prevention and treatment results, in addition to good personal health awareness and regular health checkups, it is still necessary to plan for thorough cancer screening with more advanced cancer screening equipment such as spiral 60-slice computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and PET/CT.
